No idea-- I know Ian Fleming wanted David Niven for JB, but producers chose Connery. Niven did play Bond in 1st comic version of Casino Royale-- but after SC had starred in several. Ed

That's a toughie. I'm gonna guess Barry Lyndon-- a real departure at the time esp. & I think it tanked at box office. I actually like the film quite a bit . Name the 1st studio film by Kubrick-- a 'noir' based on book by 'hard boiled detective' writer Jim Thompson.

Sam Peckinpah (is he a reprobate??? ;D). Sorry bout that Jim Thompson info-- I had thought 'The Killing' was from a book by him.
McQueen also starred in a rather atypical Peckinpah Western also in 1972. Name that one. Bonus-- what star better known for his musical roles played his father in that one?
