The other thing I'd like to mention here about the World Cup in particular, and soccer in general:
I really have to marvel about some of the b****ing of some of my fellow Americans who don't think soccer is exciting. It's true that not a lot of scoring happens (except in those rare cases, like Germany's seven goals against Brazil); but when you see how many times opposing teams' players' legs get crossed up, how many heads look like they're colliding with one another, and nobody's wearing any protective gear like they do in the NFL or college football, I just don't get those complaints whatsoever. Some of those collisions between the German and Argentine players looked like actual traffic accidents in progress.
Not exciting?! Oh, please!!!
