Lists are always fun to pick apart.. what came to mind first: - Babs at #3? - Charlotte Church on the list, period? (she still creeps me out, sorry, gang) Roberto

Just a few that put a grin on my face.....
-Why is Streisand so high on the list? Babs better than Peggy Lee or Judy Garland? Not in a million years!
-Why are Sarah Brightman and especially the scary Charlotte Church on this list at all?
-Ella Fitzgerald qualifies just as much as a traditional pop singer as as a jazz vocalist, and so she should be listed just before or just after Peggy Lee.
All things considered it's certainly not a perfect list, but it's far from embarrasing. Pretty good effort.

Yeah dunno 'bout Charlotte Church and BS so high . Also Englebert Humperdinck & teen queenie (& WAY overated IMO) Renée Olmstead) ??? & Gene Kelly as a singer. . . ?, Johnnie Ray as 'classic pop' singer??? Several others I could personally dispense with like Jerry Vale, Betty Buckley, Guy Mitchell, etc. Also Julie London over Jo Stafford, Nat King Cole, Rosemary Clooney and others? (I woulda listed her but way far down list). Ella & Sarah shoulda been there I think for their orchestral 'straight' work. Haymes should definitely be higher IMO-- probably my own top 10 (maybe his sometime partner Helen Forrest too). Eydie Gorme too definitely much higher for me. Still not a terrible list overall-- nice to see some of merit who don't get mentioned much like Irene Kral (arguably as much a jazz singer as Ella/Sarah, etc.), Ella Mae, Helen Forrest, Pat Suzuki, Jane Morgan (& JP Morgan too), Dorothy Collins. Worse lists around. Ed

Oh well. Maybe I'll do my own list one day-- hard to get just 50 tho. Ed

INTERESTING, ( NOT THE BIGGEST TRADITIONAL FAN) BUT BING IS NUMBER 1 !! HE CROONS, BUT SURE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE SINATRA. I'M AT ODDS WITH BABS AT NUMBER 3. ABOVE PEGGY LEE !! & I WOULD EVEN GRIPE THAT ELLA FITZGERALD ISN'T LISTED ( UNLESS I MISSED IT)... EDIE AT THE BOTTOM, OH WELL, STEVE WAS UP A FEW POINTS HIGHER.. SHOULD MAKE FOR SOME INTERESTING PILLOW TALK

Polly Bergen? Elaine Stritch? Where's Anita O'Day? Did I miss Helen Merrill? What's wrong with these people? Gaston, I left you a little June Christy on the other site. It's a crime she's not on this list. West End Kid

I do see you're a big fan which is nice so she doesn't have to depend on selling records to me ! I will say I kinda like her as an actress- even on that "8 Is Enough" show years ago. And I admit though that I have her first solo album & kinda enjoy it once in awhile, even her cover of Joni Mitchell's "River." Ed
