And Buffy's also known for being arguably the most prominent activist for First People's (i.e. Indigenous) causes. She did the title song to the ultra-controversial (and ultra-violent) 1970 sagebrush opus SOLDIER BLUE; and another important song of hers, "Until It's Time For You To Go", has become something of a standard, having been covered by, among others, one Elvis Presley (in 1972).

Yeah, she's good. Unfortunately her voice compares poorly to Joan Baez', Judy Collins', Joni Mitchell's or even Melanie's imo. But I like her anyway. Good artist.

I think it has something to do with the extremely unusual timbre of her voice, and what I guess you would call the left-leaning nature of her political views that sometimes get expressed in her songs, like "Universal Soldier". But that was what was part-and-parcel of the 1960's folk music movement here.

Well, all those folkies are left-leaning Erik, and so am I. But I agree that that unusual timbre of her voice you're talking about prevented her from becoming a huge star. It takes some getting used to. Still, she did allright for herself and I like her.

And I believe she is still active, both politically and (more or less) musically, having supported the protests against the Dakota Access Pipeline, which was to funnel very dirty oil from the tar sands oil fields in Alberta Province in Canada down to the Galveston Shipping Terminal in Texas for export around the world. Thankfully, however, that ugly scare of a pipeline, which ran through the tribal land of the Sioux, was kyboshed by executive order by President Biden, showing that today's version of 1960's political activism is alive and well in this country.

Intereting times, but I don't have much hope. But you don't want to hear me nag about all that for the millionth time, I'm sure.

It's the young folks who are at the head of this movement, of course, the Millennials. And yes, we do need more of this.
