I'd like to get caught up and start watching the films made about the Vietnam War. However, I don't want to watch the best, and then watch one which is lesser and miss the point of the lesser film. For those in the know, would you kindly rate what you've seen? I've only seen Apocalypse Now and Killing Fields. So the list of which I'm aware:
Killing Fields Apocalypse Now Full Metal Jacket Platoon Good Morning Vietnam (do I have to watch this one? Hehehehe) Casualties of War Thin Red Line Hanoi Hilton (something like that?)
I'm sure I'm missing many. Mostly I just want to make sure I see the good ones. Non-American stuff would be good to see as well.
Heck, we could even make a poll out of this.
Other thoughts I had along these lines:
Nazi holocaust of the Jews Prison camps in general US imperialism, in South America and elsewhere

World War II:
SCHINDLER'S LIST SAVING PRIVATE RYAN CROSS OF IRON
World War I:
PATHS OF GLORY (early Stanley Kubrick opus, circa 1958)
With respect to questioning US foreign escapades:
FAHRENHEIT 9/11 THE FOG OF WAR

I echo Erik's recommendations and add:
Pork Chop Hill (Korean War) Why We Fight (excellent documentary similar to Fog of War - notable for showing Eishenhower's legendary 'farewall' speech and making that the theme of the film)

I'd also recommend Kubrick's DOCTOR STRANGELOVE, because it makes a serious point about thermonuclear war by savagely satirizing the Cold War politics that made the threat of such a war a daily fact of life for so long.

Thanks already...I forgot about Born on the Fourth of July...I saw that in the theatre. Proved Tom Cruise's abilities. Hard to take him seriously, but really, as an actor, he's had some amazing moments. Probably should see that one again.
Already lots of great recommendations.
