With the year almost over I think it's a good idea to hear from everyone how they feel about this forum. What (if anything) you like or dislike about it. Do you like the links to news stories that I've been posting for the last week or so? Does anyone read them? How about those videos on the sub-boards? Should we have more - or less polls? Should there be more talk about movies? etc. Any opinions and/or ideas are welcome... Gaston

I enjoy the forum, and look forward to its continuation. The one suggestion that comes to mind is the fact that articles more than a day old tend to 'drop off the end of the earth'.. people don't respond to them that often. I know that it is possible to look for the last 50 or 60 messages, but I prefer seeing the most recent ones on the screen. And being more of a movie than a music buff, I am always read to discuss film :} Great job, though Robert

I LIKE IT, EVEN THOUGHT I DON'T FREQUENT AS OFTEN AS I LIKE. WHAT I LIKE ARE THE POLLS AND GAMES. COULD BE ON ANYTHING.. LIKE THE WORD ASSOC., SPORTS AND THE KIND WE'VE HAD.. I WOULD ADD MORE & MAYBE MORE IN MUSIC. TAKE A BAND AND LIST ALL SONGS OFF A "GREATEST HITS" FOR EXAMPLE & ADD "OTHER" AND SEE WHICH SONG PREVAILS... OTHERWISE.. GREAT !! & TRUE WHAT ROBERT SAID ABOUT MESSAGE OVERFLOW.. MAYBE A 30 DAY LIMIT ON SOME.. CLOSED SUBJECT OR SOMETHING.. THANK YOU GASTON

I like most things 'bout the Forum. I appreciate links to news stories. I read most of 'em-- tho agree they kinda disappear after a short time. Maybe you could have a 'digest' summary say, once every couple months so people who missed at first could find easily again? Or separate category. Just a thought. The games & such are fun & very important, though I personally get a bit bored with 'em as I don't really like to think of music as a competition (mostly--hahaha). But that's just me . More polls? well sometimes for me it's hard to think up ones that sev. people can respond to. But it might drum up more interest if you can fashion em. I like having the separate categories for various subjects-- a real plus here IMO. I don't mind talk about films either-- I just don't get out to many these days, why I often talk of old ones ;D. I like the video link threads here-- nice bonus. Folks who come here just need to know they can & probably SHOULD explore a bit to find some older stuff that may interest them. Ed

I like the forum, actually I feel no need to compare with yahoo anymore.
Of course I would like more activity, if we could persuade Jeff J to move his polls and charts and stuff here... but anyway, polls and games are cool. Specially if it's not all 70s aor rock, like currently Dave's game and I fear also round 2 of Ben's chartshow are. So more and different people would be a plus. I don't care that much for news dumps, I prefer personal opinions of the people here over any reporter's opinion.
The movie-section is cool, though not a lot of posts there. The youtube video's section is cool too. Nice way to demonstrate what one's talking about.

i think its fine, Gaston. i probably ought to post more though huh?
i think you've got a nice selection and will be glad when the HOF stuff starts up (i think anyway). what happened to the other one btw?
as for bringing Jeff J's stuff over from Master's, no need to do that on my account (or him either) lol,
but that's just me. whatever the rest of the group wants is fine.
Ron

I like the forum, actually I feel no need to compare with yahoo anymore. Well, as much as I hate to do it, personally I have to because the yahoo-groups are the competition of this forum. We have by and large the same memberships and if people don't like it here they will post at yahoo. That's no problem as long as we get a decent piece of the pie as well. Yes, but that's not likely to happen I think. In fact, it would be cool to have Goddesses, Masters and Jeff's movie-group all united here in this one forum. But we know how divided people are on the yahoo vs proboards debate, so I had to put that idea (to my regret) out the window. If proboards had a membership directory like yahoo has we already would have hundreds of members by now. As it is there's no way for me to invite people that I don't know. I don't want to make a newspaper out of this forum, that's why I try to limit it to two or three articles a day. And there's always a chance that some of them cause some discussion. Gaston

i think its fine, Gaston. i probably ought to post more though huh? What do you think, Ron? ;D I've deleted it. We'll start with a clean slate next year. But the exclusively female HOF will stay as it is for the Goddesses-group. Gaston

Maybe someone noticed that I have been posting less than I used to, but this is not because I was loosing interest in the forum. I like the forum to the point that I don't read the Goddesses group anymore. I had to make a choice due to lack of time to go through a lot of messages in no order. Here I don't ever use the "most recent messages" tool, because it would take me back to a random sequence. I love the polls and the video sub-boards. I read very often the news posted by Gaston, though I comment only a few, and I think they are a good idea. I hope we will have a "best of 2006" game, at least about albums and songs. Unfortunately, I cannot commit myself to running such a game, because I really lack time lately.
In conclusion, great job, Gaston & coworkers.

Gaston I am very pleased that you invited me to your group. It fills a void in my life. Any Dusty fans out there will know what I mean. I wish there were more of my old friends posting on this site. I love the polls and the news posts. I find that the news comments made by this international forum to be very interesting. I will say my least favorite part of this forum is the section where one song vs another. It is just too tedious in my opinion. Ditto to Antonio's remark....GASTON AND CO-WORKERS, YOU ARE DOING A GREAT JOB!!!!! Keep up the good work. Thank you. Marty

Gaston, I think you have done a great deal to make this board a very good place to be; and yes, i do read the news stories that you post, replying to the ones where I might be able to add something to a burgeoning discussion.
I'm a bit reluctant, of course, to give up on the Yahoo! Groups completely, as I post my Song Bracket and Song Debut favorites over at the Goddesses site, and my Classical Spins over at Masters. However, I do like this particular site as well, and I hope to add more to what is already a fine forum to be at.

I didn't see this thread 'til just now.
I wouldn't change a thing, even though I never look at the sports section ;-) Not a sports nut.
Polls, games of all sorts, all of it are a bonus. Clicking on news links is actually kind of rare for me to do, but I have. No reason not to share them though.
I love movies, and am happy to chat about them. I get lots of recommendations in both music and movies from this board. In the past couple of weeks I have worked towards participating as much here as I do on the yahoo group. I get a kick out of creating polls myself...the more each person creates, the more activity we see here.
We could each advertise the board too...I wonder if there is a little icon or something we could put on myspace pages and such, or could such be created? I'm no programmer, so I'm pretty useless here.

Thanks for all the kind comments, guys. I guess all the different features have their fans although it's inevitable that different members like different things more. We are doing well now. So far this year there hasn't been a day when we've had less than 50 messages and on several days we've had more than 100. That's good going for a group of less than 50 members. Gaston
