What's the sport you are the most passionate about? Since we're allowed to vote for just one, feel free to tell us about the others you may like.

Anyway, my number 1 should be no surprise anymore Ice speed Skating, this is on the 400 meter track and has distances of 500m, 1000m, 1500m, 3000m (women only), 5000m and 10.000m (men only). Holland usually is pretty good in it, specially the distances from1500m and more. In the (far) past the Norwegians and Swedish and Russians have had good ones too, and the Germans only females. But the past years it's been the US that has with Haddrick and Davis 2 very strong contestants. Number 2 would be soccer, mostly Dutch competition and events like Euro- and World Championship. Number 3 would be Formula 1 racing. 4. Tennis maybe? Specially the ladies. 5 Figure skating, females only... or American Football which unfortunatelly is almost never on Dutch tv. There was a while it was, and I always liked that, the team tactics... but not very big in Europe. On events like the Olympics I am interested in other sports too but not on every match or championship... Athletics, Gymnastics, Skiing... only in small doses.

I voted for tennis, which on thinking 'bout it is one I watch most. Not that big on watching sports really. I like figure skating (esp. women!) up to a point, and sometimes other stuff if game is exciting. Watched a bit of World Cup this time 'coz have a good friend really into it . Another since it's now available on some cable channels in USA is lacrosse-- esp. college lacrosse. & also ice hockey & college basketball once in awhile.Ed

I'M PROBABLY THE ONLY ONE IN THIS CATEGORY. PASSION FOR HORSE RACING BEGAN AT AN EARLY AGE. I SAW SECRETARIAT WHEN I WAS YOUNG & SAID.. I WANT THAT HORSE.
"BIG RED" TOOK THE TRIPLE CROWN AT BELMONT IN 1973 WINNING BY 31 LENGTHS IN 2:24. HIS RECORD HAS NOT BEEN BEAT AROUND THE WORLD. HE WAS THE FIRST TRIPLE CROWN WINNER IN 25 YEARS.
I NEVER SAW ANYTHING LIKE IT, AND MANY OF THE DOCUMENTARIES I'VE SEEN, SOUNDS LIKE WE'LL NEVER SEE IT AGAIN. THE SPORTS ANNOUNCERS WERE OUT OF WORDS !!
SINCE THEN, I TRACK THE PONIES AND GET TO ARLINGTON WHEN I CAN. I OBVIOUSLY ENJOY THE ROAD TO THE ROSES, THE TRIPLE CROWN AND NOW THE UPCOMING BREEDER'S CUP.
MANY ATHLETES AND BASEBALL, FOOTBALL ETC.--CELEBRITIES OWN GRADED HORSES. THE LAST COUPLE WERE, SINGLETARY ( DA BEARS) - BANDINI (STEINBRENER) STEVIEWONDER BOY (MERV GRIFFIN) TO NAME A FEW.
THIS YEAR OF COURSE WAS THE HEARTACHE OF BARBARO WHICH I HAVE BEEN POSTING.
THE LAST TRIPLE CROWN WAS IN 1978 WITH AFFIRMED AND ALYDAR AS A TWO HORSE RACE --SOME SAY THE BEST RIVALRY IN SPORTS. AFFIRMED TOOK THE CROWN THAT YEAR, WHILE ALYDAR WAS PUT TO STUD AND DIED A MYSTERIOUS DEATH.. A VERY OPEN STORY ON THE OWNER OF THE STABLE THAT CASHED IN. VERY SAD TOO.
WE HAD A GOOD CHANCE THE LAST 3 YEARS WITH CONTENDERS GOING FOR THE CROWN AND THE CLOSEST WAS SMARTY JONES IN 04.
WELL, THAT'S MY STORY & I'M STICKING TO IT. THANKS FOR LETTING ME SHARE MY PASSION FOR THIS SPORT. I'M A PROUD MEMBER OF THE NTRA AND IF YOU WANT MORE INFO, THAT'S THE PLACE TO. .. GO BABY GO ~

Wow Kathy, you're very knowledgable, impressive! I (of course ) voted for Tennis. Mostly the gals, but I like men's Tennis also. My very close # 2 is Boxing. I'm personality wise probably the most unlikely boxing fan in the world, but to me it ain't a form of empty headed machismo, but a contest of skills, just like in any other sport. I also like Track & Field and Gymnastics (girls only). Other sports I only watch when the Olympics are going on. I never cared much for team sports, although I enjoy things such as the Soccer World Cup. When I think about it I guess that I find NBA Basketball the most entertaining team sport. Gaston

Typical Imperialist Yankee that I am ( ), I chose basketball, simply because of the speed, pace, and the often crazy way that ball bounces on the hardwood floor. If you've ever seen the lengths that some NBA players will go to retrieve a ball that is going out of bounds (like actually jumping into the stands without even thinking [the "without even thinking" part especially]), you'd be constantly amazed that they'd risk life and limb like that. Of course, the downside is that so many of these players, for all the money and the bling that so many of them show off, haven't got much upstairs--which means that the NBA, which actually stands for National Basketball Association, occasionally also stands for No Brains Anyhow. (LOL)

well naturally i voted for baseball, that most american of sports. (forget that rounders and cricket crap that Terry is always spouting off about over at goddesses)
I think I agree with the guy who said to understand baseball is to understand America.
The crap going on between israel and Lebanon is a day at the beach compared to the Red Sox and yankees rivalry.
The best place to spend the day, other than in the company of a beautiful woman, is at the ballpark watching a double header with other fans, drinking a beer and eating a couple of dogs with mustard and onions. If the gods are with you there's a beautiful woman in the seat next to you.
my other favorites are.. college football and basketball highschool football boxing
I like horse racing but not as much of a fan as Miss Kathy is, but a day at the track is a good diversion. I think I'd love to spend a day at the track with her just to see her in her glory lol.
I'm not so much a fan of olympic sports, professional football/basketball anymore, NASCAR (what a waste of time that is)
Golf is like watching the paint dry and tennis i watch mostly for the good looking girls in their short skirts, same with figure skating (so shoot me).
Soccer or whatever the rest of the world calls it , fails to impress me, but i suppose its all some countries have got. lol

Gaston I NEVER WOULD HAVE TAKEN YOU FOR A BOXING FAN. TRUE ENOUGH, IT'S LIKE POKER.. A BLUFF WITH MUSCLE... TENNIS.. NEVER COULD GET INTO.. CLICK..CLICK.. BACK & FORTH .... VERY RELAXING TO VIEW .. I CAN SEE WHERE THERE IS LITTLE TEAM OR LEAGUE SPORTS ON YOUR LIST.. CURIOUS ABOUT NBA AS ENTERTAINMENT? IT WAS WHEN WE HAD AIR JORDAN HORSE RACING IS GAMBLING TECHNICALLY, BUT IT'S STILL THE SPORT OF KINGS.. I LOVE IT BECAUSE IT'S JUST YOU AND YOUR PICK FOR A RACE.. THE COMPETITION OF COURSE BEING THE FIELD, BUT ULTIMATELY, YOU'RE PLAYING TO WIN.. I'D PROBABLY GET TOSSED FOR THIS BUT BASEBALL WOULD BE AT THE BOTTOM... OR CLOSE TO IT.. TERRIBLE THING TO ADMIT IN THE STATES.. I LIKE NFL THOUGH, GO FIGURE. .. LOVE GREENBAY.. FOR WHATEVER REASON..I'M ATTRACTED TO NON CHICAGO TEAMS SINCE JORDAN LEFT.. I'D GO : HORSE RACING, FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL AS MY TOP THREE. GOLF IS VERY POPULAR WITH THE PEOPLE I WORK WITH.. NO CAN DO.. NICE TO WATCH FOR A NAP !! PROBABLY THE LEAST.. ICE HOCKEY.. NOW THE OLYMPICS... GYMNASTICS TOO .. MOST ALL GAMES IN THE OLYMPICS.. WINTER & SUMMER.. EXCEPT FOR SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMING &..CHICAGO IS IN THE RUNNING FOR THE 20?? GAMES

& ARJ, YOUR A SPEED SKATER FAN? MAKES ME DIZZY Dizzy? Yes I like it... keeping times in total and per round, comparing them to the ones in previous pairs... Of course it helps that Holland always has been good in this sport, at least the longer distances. And that it's always been a popular recreation event... parents teaching children at early age on natural ice on lakes and rivers... though the last years there hasn't been much natural ice anymore in Holland. The US has a good female soccer team, but also the male are improving. They made it to the Worldchampionship this year, but lost in the 1st round, but still, it's been a while they last qualified at all...

CURIOUS... I SEE THOSE GUYS WITH BAD TEMPERS OVER A BALL THAT DIDN'T HIT A RACKET.. WHAT'S HIS NAME.. MACENRO??? I think that the problem with soccer for an American audience is that it's a low scoring game. Soccer is slow compared to intensive action games such as Basketball or Ice-Hockey. Soccer is to you guys what Baseball is to us (or Cricket to everyone except England, India and Pakistan), it's incomprehensible. I wouldn't want to be the one explaining the off-side rule to an American. ;D Women's tennis is a favorite because it's poetry. Why would anyone wanna look at this... when you can look to this instead? Gaston

I voted for "soccer," but like anything with cute guys really...common in various other sports as well. I thought about swimming, gymnastics, boxing...but boxing's too violent if course. Stereotypical gay answer. I really am not a sports nut. I don't watch 'em for the same reasons most of you do. Maybe the same as Walt but we have different tastes you know. I guess I don't understand America.
