Going for the obvious-- Federer . Despite not being quite so sharp lately, I think if he's healthy still the guy to beat on harder surfaces. Roddick might surprise, but somehow I think he'll still lose before the final-- Nadal would have to turn his game up a few notches I think: he hasn't been looking quite so great. My dark horse candidate is Baghdadis I think (maybe too Ferrero--also good Spanish hard court player kinda underated). Ed

My vote goes to Federer too. It's true that he lost a final recently against Andy Murray, but that may only mean that he's already played his "bad match" of the season. ;D
Nadal will probably be his most important rival. And with his Jimmy Connors like do-or-die streetfighter mentality the chaotic atmosphere of Flushing Meadow suits him.
It will be interesting to see what Roddick can do after recently winning his first event in over a year. Let's hope Agassi does well, he deserves to go out of the game with a bang.

Well, it's obvious. Looking at the draw I see Agassi probably has no problem reaching the last 16 or even 8, and when he's there, given that it's his last tournemant and he's American, I'm sure he will go all the way.

After Agassi's comeback win last night, I wouldn't put anything past him. He's driven - wants to go out on a high. Also, how ironic that Andre is the one wearing 'tennis whites" - after all, he's the one who brought all those colourful clothes to the men's game.

Well, Agassi is not going to win. That's for sure now.

Well, Agassi is not going to win. That's for sure now. He's gone one round further than I had expected. I thought he would lose against Baghdatis, but what a great win that was for Andre. I think that considering his age and his back problems to have any sort of chance to win the tournament he would have needed to win all his first week matches in three sets without spending too much energy. Still, what an amazing career. We'll miss him, that's for sure. Gaston

>> Still, what an amazing career. We'll miss him, that's for sure. << **Agassi I think remade himself into a better player and better person (from all I've read anyway). I hope/trust he will continue his efforts with his school and other philanthropic things & I think also can mentor many young players on issues about sustaining tennis careers. He did go out in today's round-- and def. looked tired, but still fought hard. Impressive career from many perspectives I think. Ed
