We'll finally get going with our movie HOF. We'll induct one director, two actors, two actresses per year and one miscellaneous person (studio big shot, script writer, movie composer, etc) every two years. That is if this thing gets enough support from our members because there's little point in having a HOF if only two or three people would participate. An average of five or six participants like for the music HOF is the absolute minimum imo.
Anyway - directors first. We're looking for six names of movie directors who made their debut not later than 1930.

Wow, starting at 1930? It will take some 30 years before I can try to participate. Sure, I've seen movies from the 20s and 30s but only a few. However, the way the music HOF is going and sometimes looking at the movie trivia game I doubt there's something for me here. I'll see how it goes but low expectations.

There are plenty of actors and actresses from this era that you will know. Directors will be harder, which is why I take that category first. If we can't get six nominees there's not much point continuing with this I think. We could as you suggest start in 1960, but then we would ignore half of movie history, and than I don't see the point either. As for the music HOF - well, all inductees are big names in their field and the vast majority of them are in the 'real' HOF as well, so I don't see anything wrong with it. Some (probably many) of your faves will get in once we get to the late 70's and beyond.

Quote by robertaxel re. Hitchcock:
True. But there was his 1929 silent film THE LODGER, which I think was more or less a Jack-the-Ripper story.

Yes, the great Russian director who, for all intents and purposes, invented "montage" editing.
