Our final category. We will each time also induct movies that get a big thumbs up from our forum. We're looking for twelve nominations this time of which three will be inducted.

The Jazz Singer (1927)
Jolson aside, whom I know not many here appreciate, the historical significance of this film can't be understated.

to me. the silent film is sort of like the foreign language film with sub-titles.
the difference is Chaplain and Buster Keaton et al's physical comedy made me laugh and made up for the lack of dialogue.

to me. the silent film is sort of like the foreign language film with sub-titles. the difference is Chaplain and Buster Keaton et al's physical comedy made me laugh and made up for the lack of dialogue. 99% of the movies I watch have subtitles Don't see a problem there. I'm glad I'm not limited to Dutch movies. And of those, about 75% are in english (others french, korean, german). Actually I sometimes miss the subtitles when I do watch a Dutch movie That said, I have no problem watching English movies with english subtitles, or French/Korean/Spanish/whatever movies with english subtitles Also I'm glad there are subtitles for the (english) spoken movies and not actors syncing the voices in Dutch (just like they do in Germany).
