The recent HOF votes made me think about him. I know that he was a superstar of the silent era, but I've never actually seen a movie with him. So, was he any good, or was he just eye candy for the ladies?

Eye candy mostly. His films played to women's fantasies and he had really expressive eyes from what I have seen of his films. His voice was poor so that is why he never made the jump to talkies.
Ramon Navarro was a better actor in similar scripts.

I thought about him coz of his star status in '20's, but he made relatively few films, and even at the time, fairly camp really . Good point about Navarro.
