Well, there are still a number of indie films made-- somehow. And some films even from the big studios are good of course. But in general I certainly find I don't get excited by very much, and he has a point about the cost of production. I think 'Hollywood'/big films' have been in decline for quite a while now, arguably at least 20 years, and maybe even more. Still, perhaps TV and the internet are the 'way' of the future, and where the opportunities really are for those creative and able enough, and who can figure out new ways to produce/market better stuff in different ways.

In general there is a much wider range of quality on TV than on the big screen. Maybe there will be an improvement when the current curse of big budget superhero movies passes...
