Some people are equipped to handle fame; Britney isn't (at least not yet).. the though of her being a parent is rather scary.

Indeed it is scary for a child to know that her mother is something of a nutjob. As for whether or not Britney's equipped to handle fame--well, personally I think she has always found ways to mishandle it.

IMHO, I think very few are equipped to handle fame. Nearly all seem to mess up in one way or another, many with drug and/or alcohol. Fortunately, many just have a bad bout and straighten themselves up eventually.
It is just that Britney and Anna are headline news at the moment.
I can start typing a huge list of stars that had trouble with fame, but will only mention a four.
Elvis Presley (sadly he never did turn his life around, but I believe that most do) Neil Diamond (successfully cleaned up his act) Whitney Houston (I think she might be turning her life around now) Dusty Springfield (sucessfully cleaned up her act)
Gaston, dare I mention THAT book that caused all sorts of problems on various Dusty forums, Dancing with Demons? If you are not familar with this book, it is a poorly written bio about Dusty's life, still worth reading with a box of tissues next to you, if you have a heart!
I don't think any less of them for going through these difficult times and even admire them if they find the strength to turn it around.

**I think that's true. Though Brittany seems to constantly be shooting herself in the foot, I these days mostly feel sorry for her-- she is still very young after all. Just with more money than sense or social graces. Though mostly I just wish these types would just go away-- or else people doing more positive, creative and helpful things got more attention. (A vain hope I know). I do think it's difficult today as life in the fishbowl of fame seems even more complicated with the internet, 24/7 TV and media needing to fill up hours & such. Ed

Ed, I think you hit the nail on the head about Brittney. I have wondered if she believes that any publicity is good regardless if it is positive or not.

This broad is absolutely, positively INSANE!!

I really really really wish Al Gore would run for president. I think Hillary's got some blackmail on him.

Yes, I really don't think Gore needs the job; this Hollywood gig will do more for his wallet, his sense of self-worth, and, even more, for us in that he may very well be able to effect change in the world. God knows we aren't going to get any with that wanna-be John Wayne in the White House who is all hat and no cattle.

Well the first thing whoever the next president better do is sign the Kyoto Treaty. Gore just seems like he would do it.

Random thought: I heard that the process to make espresso destroys the caffeine. Seems unlikely, but I'm starting to believe it, as I'm still sleepy.

How does a talented girl like Britney Spears ~ end up shaving her head? I feel sorry for her, I really do. It's easy to kick someone when they are down, but this is really sad. When one person abuses someone else I can feel no sympathy for him or her, but when she, like is the case here, is clearly in self-destruct mode it means that she's a very sad sad, troubled girl. She needs help and I hope she gets it. This has nothing to do with how we may feel about her as a artist, this is a human tragedy and she deserves a pat on the back, a hug and some words of encouragement just like everyone else does in her situation.
