The song (just a guess): "Memories That Last"
The American civil war anthems "Dixie", "Battle Hymn Of The Republic", and "All My Trials" were adapted by songwriter Mickey Newbury for an ultra-patriotic anthem that Elvis made his own in 1972. Name the title of this anthem.

The Newbury song is 'American Trilogy.' The country singer/songwriter by the way was Bill Anderson-- & song I was thinking of was 'City Lights' (recorded by many, including Connie Smith in great version, but biggest hit was Ray Price's).
Another Mickey Newbury song was a hit for Kenny Rodgers & the First Edition-- name that somewhat 'psychedelic-tinged' one.
