Well, I'd rather see Stevie than the game ! Please advise teams to play for 30 minutes only (real time) so that concert can take place for couple of hours or whatever ;D ! Ed

I agree with Ed 100%; the game has long become secondary to the half-time show. As an example, can anyone even name the teams who played during the Janet Jackson fiasco?

I'm happy that Stevie is going to be performing at the Super Bowl, especially since it is going to be in a warm place like Miami.
But unlike a lot of people, I am frightfully interested in the game this year due to the possibility of the San Diego Chargers making it into the big game and even winning it.

Friend of mine is big pro football fan & has even gotten me to watch a bit this year. San Diego does seem to have a good chance from what I know. I'm sort of pulling for the NFC teams though-- Chicago, New Orleans or Philadelphia esp. as they seem to not be so good , but overcoming adversity of various kinds. Hope it's a good game for fans anyway & not the snoozefest that often happens. Aren't the Stones playing halftime this year? (think I read that-- or was that last year???). Geez I hope Mick and Keith keep their clothes on. ! Ed

The Stones played at the halftime of last year's Super Bowl in Detroit (which, by the way, was played at a venue [Ford Field] with a roof over it).

Well, it'll either be Chicago or New Orleans (on the NFC side) vs. either New England or Indianapolis (on the AFC side). The Chargers lost a heartbreaker on a field goal attempt that was just a few feet too short to a very solid New England team, 24-21.

DA BEARS VS. THE COLTS.. I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO SEEN A REMATCH OF THE PATS & THE BEARS FROM ... 21 YEARS AGO AS THEY SHOWED, THE '85 BEARS WERE THE MONSTERS OF THE MIDWAY.. NO COMPARISON.. CONGRATS.. DANG CLOSE FOR THE PATS.. CREDIT .. GOOD GAME.. REMINDER: STEVIE NICKS WILL BE PERFORMING THE PREGAME SHOW ON FEB 4... BE THERE.. SUPERBOWL.. MIAMI

It'll be interesting to see how this Super Bowl plays out. Not only has it been 21 years since the Bears were in the Super Bowl, but the Colts haven't been there since Super Bowl V, in 1971! (And that was while they were still in Baltimore).

AND STEVIE NICKS WILL BE PERFORMING PRE GAME SHOW TOO!! LOOKS LIKE A GOOD MATCH UP... I WAS AROUND FOR THE '85 BEARS & THERE WAS NO DOUBT IN ANYONE'S MIND THEN.. SHOOT, THEY WERE THE FIRST TO "VIDEO" BEFORE EVEN GETTING TO THE SUPERBOWL.. THEY WERE "MONSTERS OF THE MIDWAY".. THE COLTS, STAND A GOOD CHANCE AFTER THE PATS GAME.... THANKS FOR THE 411..I WAS GOING TO LOOK UP THEIR HISTORY.. CALL THEM THE CUBS OF FOOTBALL.. EITHER WAY, A GOOD SUPERBOWL.. EVEN OR CLOSE TO IT.. COLTS I BELIEVE ARE A FEW POINTS UP..&.. IT DEPENDS ON REX'S MOOD TOO .. ( NASTY KATHY)....

Why do they call a clearly inferior sport "Super" other than to hype it beyond what it is? Grown men running around in loads of padding in case they get hurt. They should try Rugby and then they might understand what a real game is all about !!!

Quote by boots:
The term "Super Bowl" is almost as old as the game itself, actually. The name was originated by the late Lamar Hunt, who was the owner of the Dallas Texans (now the Kansas City Chiefs) of the old American Football League. As one might expect, the d***ed name stuck, though the game has not always lived up to it.
