It wasn't easy either for Grossman or Manning, given the fact that it wasn't merely raining, it looked like it was monsooning! I dare anyone try to get their traction on that turf in that kind of rain.
Anyway, congrats to the Colts--their first Super Bowl win since 1971.

it couldn't happier to a classier coach.. someone who doesn't yell and never curses.. rather refreshing, IMO

well erik, i understand what you mean by the rain/monsoon-- but the bears have played in sub zero weather with ice and snow.. no excuses ...they went in with the advantage.. they were just outplayed. as for the coaching this year, i agree with robert -- but i'd add lovie smith into the same category as tony dungy. both gentlemen used stratedgy and experience to get their teams that far. i love iron mike, always will -- but it was nice not to have coaches in the spotlight for spitting, swearing etc... two class acts this year ... the ditka's & j. johnsons are / were tops and have to do what comes natural to them.. personality's don't make or break a team.. and the qb's don't make the team.. rex is catching too much slack for this one... where was the defense.. geez, it's over.. chicago can shut up for now.. it's been a media hype for two weeks.. couldn't even get the weather report !! now here we go with the cubbies.... oh this toddlin town...

Even some of Manning's throws looked a little weird, as did the way he had to place himself to throw. It was clear, especially following halftime, that the footing on that field was really treacherous, not only for the Colts, but also for the Bears.
I agree that Grossman got way too much flack for a poor performance; he was simply outplayed in that game. And he slipped on the turf at least twice, showing to me that there is a significant difference between playing in sub-zero weather with ice and snow in Chicago and playing in driving rain in south Florida.
The coaches were indeed class acts, which has always been something of a rarity in the NFL anyway, Super Bowl or otherwise.
It was a fairly good game all the way around. I wasn't exactly rooting hard for either team, just interested in how it all played out (if the Chargers had been in it, that would have been a different story).

ERIK.. I LUV YA.. BUT UNLESS YOU'VE BEEN TO SOLDER'S FIELD OR KNOW ANYONE THAT HAS.. IT IS BAD.. PERHAPS DIFFERENT TURF.. BUT IT'S SLICK AND BLINDING SNOW AT TIMES.. VISIBILUTY WORSE THAN THE SUPER BOWL. BOTH STRUGGLED IN BAD WEATHER, THAT'S HOW THE GAME WAS ORIGINATED.. OUTDOORS ..OBVIOUSLY, IT'S ALL THE TALK AROUND HERE ( CHICAGO).. REX THE HEX ETC.. REX WASN'T THEIR ( COLTS) CONCERN.. THEY WERE OUT TO BLOCK OUR DEFENSE.. I SAW IT IN THE FIRST QUARTER..KIND OF LIKE WHAT THEY DID TO WALTER PAYTON IN 1985.. STOP HIM FROM RUNNING THAT BALL.. STRATEDGY PAID OFF.. NEXT YEAR.. GO CHARGERS .. SO KATHY DOES NOT HAVE TO BE ANNOYED ALL IN GOOD FUN.. THE STEVIE & PRINCE AND COMMERCIALS MADE IT "BEARABLE" ( CRACK MYSELF UP)

I didn't see any Stevie...
I liked the game though it was quite obvious the Colts would win early on, depsite the flashing start of the Bears. That Manning has a good overview.
I recorded the entire game and watched it tonight... fast forward through the commercials and time outs... still took almost 4 hours (including Prince of course, wouldn't miss that).

I would like to apologize for what I stated about my opinion regarding all of this. I think perhaps I may have come on too strong about something I don't really feel that strongly about. If I did, I'm really very sorry.
